[밀양시 소식] Successful completion of badminton competition in Gyeongnam area – Recruitment of cultural tourism commentator

The ‘7th Gyeongsangnam-do Association long-term badminton competition’ was successfully held for two days on the 4th and 5th at the Badminton Stadium in Miryang.

This is the first badminton competition to be held in Miryang this year. A total of 743 teams and 1,480 badminton club members from 18 cities and counties in Gyeongsangnam-do participated and competed in four places including the badminton stadium, sports center, Miryang Elementary School, and Miryang Middle School.

Deputy Mayor Kim Seong-kyu said, “The top priority is for all participating players to be able to safely conduct the competition” while visiting the badminton stadium.

Meanwhile, on the 26th of last month, the 19th Miryang Arirang Marathon was successfully held despite a 4-year hiatus. In addition, national sports events such as the National Student Championship (March 13-22) for the presidency of the Badminton Federation will be held one after another.

Miryang, a city of attractive tourism

Miryang City, which is in the midst of preparing to welcome tourists for the ‘2023 Visit to Miryang Year’, is hiring two new cultural and tourism commentators this year as well as last year.

In order to become a cultural tourism commentator in Miryang City, first, you must go through a document screening and interview screening process and be selected as a new trainee. After that, they must complete a 100-hour new training course supervised by the Korea Tourism Organization.

In addition, you must complete a practical training course of at least 105 hours for more than 3 months at major tourist attractions in Miryang to be granted the final qualification to act as a cultural tourism commentator.

Eligible applicants must reside in Miryang as of the announcement date on the 6th. Preference is given to those who can guide tours with disabilities, such as majors in related fields or holders of licenses, those with specialized knowledge in the relevant field, those with excellent command of foreign languages, those who can speak sign language, and the vulnerable.

Applicants can apply at the City Hall Tourism Promotion Division from the 27th to April 5th. Details and required documents can be found on the city hall website.

In Miryang City, a total of 11 people, including two selected last year, are active as cultural tourism commentators. Following Yeongnamnu Pavilion, Wiyangji Pond, Pyochungsa Temple, and Pyochungbigak, Miryang City will expand and operate commentator placement locations such as Susanje Historical Park and the Historic Site of Missionary Ambassadors this year.
