Ziyech and PSG disappointed: no move to Paris due to Chelsea’s procrastination | Premier League

Despite an agreement from all parties, the midnight deadline, the end of the winter mercato, has not been met. Ziyech, who has a contract with Chelsea until mid-2025, would leave London for a loan, with a purchase option, at PSG.

However, several French and English media reported that Chelsea would have “lingered” too long in passing on the paperwork.

PSG felt wronged and today started an appeal procedure with the French professional league (LFP). The club wanted to show that the fault was with Chelsea and thus have the rental deal validated.

However, the LFP decided against the Parisians on the afternoon. Ziyech passed his medical tests at the Parc des Princes earlier yesterday. He was allowed to leave Chelsea, which brought in new players for around 300 million euros this winter.

The Moroccan impressed at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year. He reached the semi-finals with his country.

Ziyech had to become the only winter transfer from PSG, which is leading in Ligue 1 with 48 points after 20 match days. PSG will meet Bayern Munich in the eighth finals of the Champions League in 2 weeks.
