Young Argentine Maretto joins Italian First division basketball

The Argentine youth Octavio Maretto will join the Libertas Pesaro roster of the Italian Basketball First Division (Legabasket), according to what was revealed by the athlete’s representation agency.

“Octavio Maretto will defend the colors of Libertas Pesaro. Let’s go with everything Octavio” reported GP Sports, the organization that manages the career of the 18-year-old from Sunchal.

Maretto, son of Javier (a prominent Ferro basketball player in the ’80s and ’90s), came from the Italian promotion, after having worn the Aurora Jesi jersey, from the third category of peninsular basketball.

The forward from Santa Fe, who carried out training work at Libertad de Sunchales, will have as a partner another Argentine with much more experience in the world’s main leagues.

Maretto will share a squad with Carlos Delfino, Olympic champion with the Argentine national team in Athens 2004 and a member of franchises such as the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons in the NBA at different stages of his career. (Telam)
