With the demonstration scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday in ShovelPelliconethe championship season opens, divided into two series.
The upcoming edition of the Italian Cup of A2 a Ostia reaffirms the evidence of the numbers, one of the main reasons that led the technical choice in this direction.
There are 361 athletes and 177 clubs registered in the A2 of 25-26 February, practically halving the number of participants in an event which, first and more than others, had generated problems of uninterrupted and excessive permanence in the competition venue for athletes, technicians, match officials, escorts and supporters.
To the level subdivision for male and female athletes, which is obviously applied on the basis of an acquired and transparent classification of merit (ranking list), is added the benefit found from the introduction of the competition format, which has made it more functional, more readable and with the reduction of dead times.
On the same weekend, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February, Warsaw hosts a European Open with the participation of 454 athletes from 44 nations.
And it is certainly a curiosity that, at least in this case, the presence of Italian athletes in the competition is extremely small, only one: Anita Cantiniwho will compete in the 57 kg followed by the coach Fabio Barni.
“We are leaving for Warsaw -said coach Barni- a sort of restart for various reasons, both physical and motivational. The hope is to have a good race and to fight on an equal footing with the other athletes. The fact that there are no other Italian athletes competing gives us further motivation in the desire to leave a mark in this race in Poland”.
