“We will only support the agreed payroll on Monday”

Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The nationalist deputy, Johana Bermúdez, clarified this Thursday that the National Party will only support the list of the 15 magistrates agreed last Monday with the three political forces of the country.

On Monday, February 13, the main political parties met to reach consensus. They announced that they had agreed on a list of 15 magistrates; 6 would be from Libre, 5 from the PN and 4 from the PL. However, yesterday it emerged that Libre had changed his mind with respect to a candidate for PL magistrate.

A few hours before the session called for this Thursday with the objective of electing the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), the deputy assured that the 43 deputies are firm and ready to vote, thinking above all of taking care of the country’s democracy.

“Honduras needs certainty, confidence. We need investment and legal certainty. For this reason, we call on the political parties, especially those that have not decided for their candidates, to please not allow others to influence their decisions,” said Bermúdez.

Respect for consensus

However, the congresswoman expressed the possibility that a new Court will not be elected on this day if the PN does not agree with the fourth candidate of the liberal party.

“What we need is consensus and these they must be respected. The height dialogues of Honduran gentlemen must be respected. We are going to support the list that was released on Monday, which was agreed upon with the three political forces,” said the nationalist.

Bermúdez assures that the 43 deputies of the National Party are ready to elect the new CSJ.

Bermúdez informed that until today they have not been informed if there will be any type of modification in the list; however, they hope that liberal party stick with your payroll and don’t let others influence your decisions. “Today they have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership,” added the congresswoman.

Finally, he reiterated that the nationalists are ready to vote and elect a new Supreme Court of Justice. “We need the new Court to be elected today, Honduras needs certainty, so today we must elect it,” he closed.
