The Uruguayan U-20 soccer team is preparing to face Ecuador this Friday in the second date of the final hexagonal of the South American category that is taking place in Colombia and where it is still undefeated.
Regarding the debut with a 1-0 win against Colombia with a goal by Facundo González in that instance, Mathías de Ritis, interviewed in Sport 8.90, commented: “The victory gave us a very nice start to the hexagonal, it was the dream, to start like this against the local. It gives us a very important strength for what is to come”.
The winger referred to the upcoming match with Ecuador, which has as its precedent a goalless draw in the group stage, a duel in which he considered that Uruguay deserved better luck, and anticipated: “It will be a final and we are going to face it as such.”
“There is a very nice, united group that knew how to go through adverse moments in preparation,” he alluded to when referring to the sky-blue squad, and commented: “Now we are in a good moment, without believing we are the best and we enjoy it in our own way.”
“Before coming I said that we had good expectations, high, because of what this group was. The objectives remain the same: qualify for the World Cup [de Indonesia] and as the matches take place, get excited about going for the title”, he closed.
The table of positions of the final hexagonal shows Brazil (+2) and Uruguay (+1) first with three points, Paraguay (0) and Venezuela (0) with one, while Colombia (-1) and Ecuador (-2) close ), still without accumulating units.
Uruguay will open the stage playing against Ecuador at 5:00 p.m., while Brazil will collide with Venezuela at 7:30 p.m. in the Metropolitano de Techo. Colombia against Paraguay will complete at 10:00 p.m. in El Campín in Bogotá.
