Valencia bring in Baraja as their new head coach

Valencia have appointed Ruben Baraja as their new head coach. This was announced by the Spanish first division club on Tuesday. The former professional previously coached the clubs Real Zaragoza, Rayo Vallecano and FC Elche. Baraja returns as manager at the club with which he won the 2004 UEFA Cup as a player. At the end of January, the club, threatened with relegation, terminated the contract with former head coach Gennaro Gattuso.

On an interim basis, team manager Voro Gonzalez recently led training for the third-bottom team in the league. Baraja will be on the sidelines for the first time at his new club on Monday when the six-time Spanish champions visit second-bottom Getafe.
