According to information from Times, Dean Burmester, a two-time DP World Tour winner and PGA Tour member this season, has decided to join LIV Golf. The 33-year-old South African is expected to join captain Louis Oosthuizen’s Stinger GC team.

Aged 33, Burmester has twice won the DP World Tour (Tshwane Open 2017 and the Tenerife Open 2021). In three outings this season on the European Tour, he already has two top 10s to his credit: 5th in the AT Open and 7th in Dunhill Championship. He also has seven successes on the Sunshine Tourthe highly respected South African professional circuit.
The current 62nd player in the world had also managed to win his right to play on the PGA Tour 2022-23 through the finals of Korn Ferry Tour, the second US division. He had in the process taken the start of eight tournaments on this same PGA Tour, missing only one cut since and even offering himself 4th place on October 2 at the Sanderson Farms Championship. While eight of the twelve LIV Golf teams have been revealed, the other four will not be until Monday, February 20. Among them, the captain’s Stinger GC Louis Oosthuizen. A 100% South African team that Burmester should join alongside Charl Schwartzel et Brand Grace. This would imply the “relegation” of two other South African golfers, Hennie du Plessis et Shaun Norris, alternate members of the Stinger GC. And incidentally players on the… DP World Tour!
