Two months into the championship, San Marino warms up the engines

The cold is still biting and playball is almost two months away, so the thought of ‘hit and run’ remains far away. But meanwhile at the Serravalle stadium, albeit in reduced ranks, San Marino has begun preparations in view of the season which will begin in mid-April. Under the orders of the reconfirmed manager Doriano Bindi and the coach Gigi Angelini, some of the ‘natives’ found themselves, namely Celli, Di Fabio, Pulzetti and the twins Luca and Lorenzo Di Raffaele. To these was also added Alessando Ercolani, the San Marino pitcher born in 2004 who will still have the United States in his future. For now, this small handful of players trains four times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), while the rest of the group – and there are so many reconfirmed ones – will begin to appear in the republic between the end of February and the beginning of March. Angulo, Ferrini, Epifano, Leonora, Peternella, Lino, Quevedo, Baez, Peluso are part of this crowded platoon, while pitcher Quattrini, catcher Morresi and first baseman Ustariz will no longer wear the San Marino jacket. Then there will also be some market movements to settle the roster: a pitcher will certainly arrive for the second phase, but something else is not excluded in the short term. The Titans, we recall, have won the last two Serie A championships, with the total number of championships rising to 6 (in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013 the other treble). As has been known for some time, in 2023 the San Marino club will not play in the Champions Cup, another trophy that makes a fine show on the company bulletin board given the successes in the continental arena dated 2006, 2011 and 2014.
