Turkish Basketball Federation donates 5 million TL to AFAD

Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) announced on its official website that they donated 5 million TL to AFAD for earthquake victims after the earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and caused damage in the surrounding cities.

In the statement made on the official website of the federation, “As a nation, we are witnessing one of the biggest disasters in our history as a result of earthquakes affecting the Eastern, Southeastern and Mediterranean regions of our country. In earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Gaziantep, Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Osmaniye and Significant damage and loss of life have occurred in many cities, including Kilis. We are sorry and in mourning. While an inhuman rescue struggle continues under the leadership of our state, with the great contributions of our non-governmental organizations, we do not only accompany the law we hold as a nation with great sadness, but also to heal the wounds. We are working with all our strength. In addition to the material support campaign we started with the cooperation of AFAD yesterday, we want to set an example in financial support to support search and rescue efforts and earthquake victims and lead our basketball community. We have donated 5 Million TL from the budget of our establishment. We invite our entire community to support this campaign. As the Turkish Basketball Federation, our purpose of existence is to serve our nation, especially our youth, and to lay the foundations for a better tomorrow. While providing financial and in-kind contributions during this process, we will join forces with our management, employees, athletes, sponsors, clubs and media organizations as a whole and stand by our earthquake survivors. We believed in not giving up and not losing hope in basketball. We have always struggled and we were inspired by the fighting spirit of the saintly Turkish Nation. Today is the day to fight in unity and solidarity. We wish God’s mercy on those who lost their lives, healing to our wounded and strength to fight to all our heroes who served in the earthquake zone. Our aid mobilization will continue until all wounds are healed. Our prayers are with our brothers and sisters in the earthquake area,” it said.
