Treichl/Stepan fell at the World Cup final

Markus Treichl and brakeman Sascha Stepan fell at the World Cup finals of the bobsledders in the two-man competition. The duo touched the barrier just before the finish on Saturday and then hit the side of the ice. According to TV pictures, the Austrians seem to have escaped without serious injuries. They slid across the finish line and ended the competition as 13th and last. The victory went to the Germans Johannes Lochner/Georg Fleischhauer.

Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries secured overall victory in the monobob world cup. The American won the competition in Sigulda and relegated world champion Laura Nolte to second place in the final. The German was only sixth on the day. There was no Austrian at the start. The 23-year-old Tyrolean Lea Haslwanter celebrated her World Cup debut last week in Innsbruck-Igls in 15th place.
