Tyrolean Markus Treichl and his crew Sascha Stepan, Markus Sammer and Sebastian Mitterer took fifth place in the home bobsleigh World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls on Saturday. The quartet was fourth after the first heat, fell back one place in the second and ended up 0.51 seconds behind the victorious Germany’s Francesco Friedrich. Second place went to Great Britain with Brad Hall (+0.19), third place to Germany with Johannes Lochner (+0.34).
“We had a great first run, in the second we made a few small mistakes,” said Treichl. Another four-man competition is on the program on Sunday. “Full attack again, we want to fight at the front.”
