Tiger Woods back on the PGA Tour next week!

Tiger Woods took all his fans on the wrong foot this Friday by announcing on his twitter account a surprise return to competition. It will be next Thursday at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles where he had been the victim of a terrible road trip at the wheel of his SUV 2 years ago. The Tiger had not played in official competition since The Open this summer.

The fans of Tiger Woods had been waiting for this since July and the missed Tiger cut in The Open at St Andrews.

Preview alongside his son at the PNC Championship or in doubles with Rory McIlroy during The Match, in December, the former world number one will finally be able to measure his physical progress in a regular PGA Tour tournament. What he has not done since his terrible car accident in February 2021.

Indeed Woods had not appeared in a non-major PGA Tour tournament since the Zozo Championship in October 2020.

The Genesis Invitational is one of the “boosted” tournaments on the American circuit and is played on the Rivieira Country Club course, one of the favorite courses of the man with 82 titles on the American circuit. It is also an event which he hosts and which he sponsors via his foundation.

Less than 7 weeks before the Augusta Masters (April 6-9), the first major tournament of the season, the performance of the 47-year-old American will obviously be carefully scrutinized.
