The man from Valladolid had a good first set against the Olympian Abian in which he lost 21-19 in the first set due to small details. In the second set, physical fatigue took its toll on the university student and he could do nothing in the final part, falling 21-13.
In relation to the rest of the competition, mention should be made of the men’s doubles by Javier González and Enrique Fernández, who were about to surprise and beat the 2nd seed and subsequent finalists Pinto-Álvarez (Oviedo) in an exciting match that was decided in the tiebreaker of the last set.
