Thierry Henry is no longer an assistant at the Red Devils | Red Devils

As a player, Thierry Henry (45) has made a great signature, as a trainer the career of the former French striker is difficult.

In 2016, Henry was brought into the staff of the Red Devils by national coach Roberto Martinez.

Two years later he moved to Monaco, where he became head coach. Henry was sent on and tried again at Montréal, but in 2021 he ended up with the Belgian team again.

After the World Cup in Qatar and Martinez’s divorce, Henry seemed to be one of the candidates to succeed the Spaniard, but the KBVB teamed up with Domenico Tedesco.

There is no longer a role for Henry in the coaching staff. “He talked to us about his ideas,” explains CEO Peter Bossaert. “He will not remain an assistant, but we appreciate him very much.”

There is not yet complete clarity about the future of Thomas Vermaelen.

“We are impressed by Thomas and it is our greatest wish to continue with him, but we still have to discuss that,” Bossaert added.

“We are negotiating with him. He is a monument and we want to keep him on board.” It is not yet known in what role that will be.
