Theater opens up about dressing room quarrels Red Devils

For the time being, the new national coach has still not been officially appointed, but within a month and a half the European Championship qualifications are already underway. For the Red Devils, it will be their first meeting since the debacle at the World Cup in Qatar. And that could lead to some awkward moments.

The past world championship was anything but a success for the Belgian national team. From a sporting point of view, the Devils only reached an acceptable level at times, so they already died in the group stage. In addition, the atmosphere within the group would not have been particularly good. It came to a few troubles on the field of and behind the scenes there would also have been some struggles. For example, it was even claimed from France that after the match against Morocco there had been an altercation in the dressing room.

But according to Arthur Theate, none of that is true. “That’s nonsense, there was no problem between any player,” the defender told RTBF. “How could Eden Hazard and Jan Vertonghen argue with each other? It’s impossible. And neither can Kevin De Bruyne. In any case, everything that happens remains in the dressing room. And if something needs to be said, they will fight each other in the get eyes.”

THANKS TO MARTINEZ

From a sporting point of view, Theate played only a limited supporting role during the World Cup. But he does not blame ex-national coach Roberto Martinez. “Obviously I wanted to play more and it’s a pity that we were eliminated so early, but I’m sure Martinez made his choices in the best interest of the group. He didn’t explain those choices to me, but that’s normal because he had other concerns. I don’t blame him either. He is an extraordinary man, who launched me and integrated me into the Devils.”
