The winners of the Sports Merits of the City of Liège 2022 are known!

In the women’s Perron d’Or category, Nawel EL BELKASMI, from the Royal Archery Club Grivegnée, was crowned winner. She is Belgian Champion of Archery on 3D target, a sport that requires great precision and unfailing concentration.

On the men’s side, it was Arnaud DELY, from the Saint-Georges triathlon club, who won the men’s Perron d’Or. World champion in the mixed duathlon and third in the European Championship, he is also ranked first in the world, a performance that commands respect.

Among the collectives, the Liège Panthers won the title of female Perron d’Or. The U14s have won everything in 2022, including winning the AWBB Cup and the Belgian Championship.

For the men, the RTC Fayenbois tennis team was rewarded. Belgian champions in the Men’s 1 category, these players showed their talent and team spirit on the courts.

The RIL in the spotlight

In the Women’s Hope category, Meriame ETTALEB, from the Champions Karate Club Liège, was crowned. African Champion, Belgian Champion and 2nd in the world ranking, she is a young athlete full of promise.

The Mérite Sportif Espoir for men went to Justin LECOCQ, from the Liège Mosan club. He dominated the Belgian Championships, the French-speaking Championships and the Open in his category, showing that he had a promising future in the world of swimming.

Maxime CARABIN, from RFC Liège, won the Mérite Sportif adapted in the discipline of athletics (Wheeler). World number 1 in the 100m and 200m, as well as world 3rd in the 400m in the T52 category, he broke several records and showed that he was capable of excelling despite the difficulties.

Finally, the Royale Intercorporation Liégeoise (RIL), a football and futsal federation which celebrated its centenary in 2022, was awarded the Prix de l’Action Sportive. The jury wanted to salute the commitment of its passionate leaders to promote the values ​​of solidarity and sharing among its 200 teams and 4,500 members.
