A few weeks later, the coach of the Atlas Lions would have contacted several players to ensure their presence during the next international break during which Morocco will face Brazil and Peru (March 25 and 28).
In this context, several local sources including the media Lionsdel’Atlas.ma reveals that the two former Standard Samy and Ryan Mother allegedly refused to speak with Walid Regragui following their exclusion from the group that left for Qatar, when they had completed the entire qualifying campaign under the orders of Vahid Halilhodzic.
The central defender and the center forward would have made it clear to their coach that they will no longer wear the jersey of the Moroccan national team as long as he remains in office. Walid Regragui would therefore have closed the file and submitted a detailed report to the Moroccan football federation in which he explains that he will no longer summon them to the national team.
As a reminder, the two players had worn the colors of the Devils before choosing Morocco.
