Impulse in the relegation battle: Bayreuth gets Oldenburg’s cup winners coach

After seven years as coach of EWE Baskets Oldenburg Mladen Drijencic a new job in the basketball league. The Bottom of the table medi Bayreuth committed the 57-year-old as Successor to Lars Masell. Drijencic led his first training session in Bayreuth in the morning and is taking over a club that in difficult sporting and economic times plugged.
“Even if I am retire as sole shareholder at the end of the season until then, I will do everything in my power to ensure that Bayreuth basketball is in the first division,” he said Club boss Carl Steiner Steiner told the management about this change of coach financial support assured for the signing of Drijencic. Now the sole shareholder also relies on one further strengthening of the squad.
The Bosnian Drijencic was in 2010 initially as head of the young talent program Oldenburg changed. In 2015 he took over the first team as successor to Sebastian Machowski led the Lower Saxony to victory in the cup, among other things.
