The ski world is mobilizing for Lionel Finance

It is in difficulty that we see true friends. Lionel Finance was able to realize this. Victim of a skiing accident on July 9, 2020 in Tignes, the Vosgien is now paraplegic. Supported by his family, his wife Magali and his two children, the former member of the France team has just seen a huge outpouring of solidarity.

Thus, the members of the French ski team have just launched a fundraising campaign for the former coach. The objective is to collect €75,000 to finance an adapted vehicle so that he can travel alone. The device costs €85,000 and the association of international skiers has already collected €10,000.

To encourage donations, the greatest champions of the current French alpine ski team (Tessa Worley, Clément Noël and Alexis Pinturault) will offer a pair of autographed skis to the three biggest donors. Other prizes will also be offered and will reward all participants in the kitty such as eight pairs of Salomon skis, helmets and goggles, ski clothing and accessories, a bib signed by the current members of the French teams. You can find the list of lots here.

“Our goal is to raise €75,000. We will inform donors every fortnight of the progress of the kitty, “says Catherine Quittet, the former flag bearer of the French team at the Calgary Olympics in 1988.

Lionel Finance was a member of the French downhill team from 1985 to 1996 before becoming coach of the French women’s downhill team in 2000. He then led the selections of Canada, Switzerland and Russia.
