The Senate approves the stop to the extension for TV rights

The Senate Chamber has approved the Government amendment which suppresses, in article 16 of the Milleproroghe Decree, the possibility of extending the duration of the licensing contracts for current TV rights for sporting events up to 5 years (including those of football with Sky and DAZN). This faculty was introduced with an amendment first signed by Claudio Lotito (FI), reformulated in the Constitutional Affairs and Budget commissions of the Senate. With the DL Aiuti quater, the extension of the license agreements from 3 years as currently envisaged to 5 years was introduced for the future.

The amendment to abolish the possibility of extending the duration of TV rights passed with 158 yes, 3 no and 3 abstentions and was approved at the same time as a part of the amendment first signed by Alessandra Maiorino (M5S) with identical content.
