The Sant Antoni Basketball Class enables a collection point for aid to send to Syria and Turkey

The Sant Antoni Basketball Club, together with several volunteers who have already been in Ukraine helping those affected by the Russian invasion, have set up a humanitarian collection point outside Sa Pedrera to help those affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

The contributions, especially warm clothing, blankets and sanitary material, began to be made this Saturday, coinciding with the basketball game. In this sense, according to the portmanyí Jorge Nacher, these volunteers contacted the Association for Aid to the Syrian People, in charge of making the shipment, so that all this cargo can reach these countries. “Two police officers and a firefighter, who were already in Ukraine, went to Turkey on Friday with the intention of helping the people affected by the earthquake,” Nacher told Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera. Along these lines, he explained that they hope to be able to gather a lot of belongings this week so that, at the latest, all these donations can reach Syria and Turkey before next week. In addition, he wanted to make an appeal for people to join this very supportive initiative.

Likewise, he has thanked all the health sectors that are collaborating in the cause, as well as all the people who have contacted them to channel all the help.

In addition, he explained that once they have all the donations, they will have to do the sorting and storage work so that the truck can leave as soon as possible. Undoubtedly, Ibiza has begun to mobilize to show its help and solidarity in the face of the serious humanitarian crisis that is being suffered in Turkey and Syria.
