The Mouscronnois Hichem Guenfoud is as strong on the tatami as behind the goal

Our clubs will still be well represented at the Judo Provincial. This year, it stops in Mons while Herstal will host the Regional and Tielt the National. The Top Level Tournai, the Kano Tournai and the Kanido Herseaux will undoubtedly feed the podiums and have some promises to watch out for. Among them, we can point to Hichem Guenfoud. With Lola Fache, the young man has been part of the Kanido Herseaux executives for several seasons already. Dismissed from the mats for several months for a knee injury, the lightweight has planned to make his comeback. “I will normally be there,” he announces. “It’s not easy because I still have pain and the doctors want me to strengthen the muscle in my leg. I have the niaque and, when I do things, I don’t do them by halves. Getting a result in the youth championships is important for the rest of my season, especially if I want to be included in the European Cups. The event could even have a special flavor since it is expected that his 13-year-old little brother will participate for the first time. “He too is coming back from injury,” Hichem points out.

While waiting to rediscover the sensations of competition, Guenfoud has recently been able to indulge in another of his passions: photography. Last weekend, he was in action at the Herstal Open, on behalf of the Federation! “I have been drawn to photography since I was very young. I received a device for a birthday and I got involved in the practice. Sometimes I do sessions but, until now, it was for futsal or football. The Herstal Open was the first judo tournament he covered. “I had done a shoot by Damien Bomboir (editor’s note sports coordinator of the Federation) and he thought of me. My camera is good for fairly close shots, which wasn’t always easy in Herstal, but I managed. I also had to quickly fix a problem with my memory card, which had gone read-only. Fortunately, I found a solution. Despite these unforeseen events, the young man was satisfied with his work. “I received a lot of positive messages, especially from seniors. Some have asked me if photography was my field of study. This motivated me to invest in another telephoto lens. » A student in 5th secondary at the sport-studies of Mouscron, Guenfoud thinks about making his passion his job. “Right now, I have a lot of questions. Photography takes up a lot of space in my life. But as to whether, one day, I could make a living from it… We’ll see what the future holds for me! »
