The Independence Cup of Boxing begins in the Dominican Republic

The Independence Boxing Cup, a sporting event that will take place until the 20th of this month, will have the presence of boxers from 10 countries, from the province of Santiago, in the Dominican Republic, as indicated by the Organizing Committee, according to to review of Latin Press.

The teams that will be present in the competition are: Argentina, Barbados, United States, Puerto Rico, Chile, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas, Jamaica and the host country.

During the press conference, the president of the Organizing Committee, Ulises Rodríguez, stated that there is a lot of enthusiasm for this tournament, “we hope Santiago and the entire Cibao massively support this festival of good boxing, which we will offer completely free of charge.”

Likewise, he pointed out that the home team has a young team, but with great talent in the men’s branch, where Mario La Vegal, of 51 kilograms, José Luis De Los Santos of 57 and Yoan Agüero of 63 stand out.

As for the women, he stressed that there will be María Moronta, who reached the quarterfinals in the past Olympic Games, and Miguelina Hernández, also an Olympic.

The team’s main coach is the Cuban Armando Hernández, assisted by Eudis Méndez, Gregorio Santos and Nancy Fuentes.
