The first season of the Women’s Pro Basketball League is set to debut in March

To give budding hoopsters nationwide a chance to feature in some high-profile action, Elite Pro Basketball has announced a women’s league that will see 72 athletes make the cut across 6 teams.

The league will see aspiring hoosters nationwide have the opportunity to rub shoulders with big names in a 5X5 basketball league made up of six teams.

The league, announced on Sunday, will have its trial from March 17-20 at the Noida Indoor Stadium and will attract the best players and coaches from across India.

Speaking of the same, Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League CEO Sunny Bhandarkar said, “There are a lot of talented female basketball players in the country, and we wanted to provide a platform for these athletes to show their skills.

“There is no reason why women should be deprived of the opportunity to have a career playing basketball. The trials will take place from March 17-20, 2023 in Noida,” he said.

“Our goal is to elevate the game of basketball in India and create employment opportunities for young people in India. It is unfortunate that those responsible for developing the sport have never created such opportunities for basketball players.

“However, I am proud to be able to be the eyes and ears of American investors who believe in our country and believe that India would one day be a gold medalist at the Olympics. there is no reason why we cannot achieve this goal,” he added.

The Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League is backed by a group of investors in the United States of America.
