Terrence Ross would join the Suns after termination of contract with the Magic

After new Suns owner Mat Ishbia and coach Monty Williams joined forces, veteran shooting guard Terrence Ross plans to sign with Phoenix upon expiration, sources told ESPN.

The Dallas Mavericks had emerged as favorites early Saturday, but the Suns made the case to Ross about a chance to team up with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.

Ross, 32, is coming out of a contract with the Orlando Magic, the sources added, and can become a free agent early this week. Ross’s 38% from 3s and athleticism will be a significant improvement off the bench for Phoenix.

As long as Ross agrees to the ‘buyout’ before March 1, he is eligible to be on his new team’s playoff roster.

The Suns acquired Durant, along with TJ Warren, in a blockbuster deal with the Nets on Wednesday night that sent Cameron Johnson, Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder to Brooklyn, along with four first-round picks and a trade. selection of 2028.

A day later, Crowder was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
