Shower of medals at the Regional Indoor Archery Championship. The sporting event organized by the Evò Archery Team of San Cesario di Lecce chaired by Mauro Liaci (also based in Rutigliano), took place in Lecce in recent days at the “San Giuseppe da Copertino” sports hall and saw the participation of about 150 archers from all over the region. 24 companies affiliated to Fitarco (Italian Archery Federation) took part in the competition and battled it out to the last shot. The Apulian excellence of the fascinating sporting practice was concentrated in the capital of Lecce, as part of the sporting event valid as qualification for the next edition of the 2023 Italian Championship. In the Olympic division, Cosimo Renna, part of the Archers of San Pietro Vernotico climbed on the top step of the podium together with Silvia Putignano members of the Peuceti Archers. As for the Compound bow, Michele Illuzzi of the Palese Archers and Valentina Briganti of the Murgia Archers graduated as regional champions. In the Bare Arch division Tommaso Bellanova of the Ionian Archers and Nicolaia Annoscia of the Noia Archers excelled. The new regional champions of the various archery specialties have become the protagonists of outstanding performances, giving prestige to the regional and national archery movement. The team title was won by the archers of Valle della Cupa, in the men’s Olimpico, and the archers of Basso Salento in the women’s Olimpico. The team title in the Compound was the prerogative of the Archers of Lower Salento, while in the Bare Arch the Evò Archery Team of San Cesario di Lecce prevailed. Many other medals were awarded in the awards ceremony held in the presence of Antonio Fusti, president of the Fitarco regional committee, and Antonio Leo, vice president of the Province of Lecce. At the end of the competition, the lavish prize-giving ceremony took place which crowned the new champions. The competition, open to athletes of all classes and divisions, was organized in collaboration with the patronage of Coni Puglia and the Province of Lecce.
