Hamburger SV was in the lead for a long time in the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga at Darmstadt 98, but then the “lilies” managed to equalize.
Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer gave the Hanseatic team the lead in the fourth minute, while substitute Filip Stojilkovic equalized in the 81st minute. Darmstadt remains at the top of the table and is four points ahead of HSV. The Hessians thus prevented the first defeat in the 2nd division since the first matchday (0:2 in Regensburg).
Hamburg’s opening goal in front of 16,800 spectators in the sold-out Böllenfalltor stadium was preceded by a quick attack down the left flank. After a high cross from Moritz Heyer, Königsdörffer ran into the ball on the five, held out his right foot and scored from around three meters. He was only in the starting XI because Bakery Jatta was late for the team meeting.
Honsak was missing inches
The “lilies” shook themselves briefly and then took control. And it didn’t take long for the first chance. Attack after attack rolled towards the Hamburg goal and goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes had his hands full.
Mathias Honsak had the greatest opportunity just before the break. His shot rolled off the inside of the post towards the goal line, but Heuer Fernandes probably caught the ball in time. In any case, referee Christian Dingert did not give the goal. Centimeters were missing.
Battle-focused game
After the break, HSV made the game more balanced. The party was never handsome. Again and again fouls disturbed the flow of the game, there were a number of sometimes tough duels. In the game ahead, both teams remained too imprecise.
Stojilkovic not to hold
When everything looked like a Hamburg victory, the “lilies” finally struck. After a long ball from Marvin Mehlem, Stojilkovic held his own against his opponent, moved into the sixteen, couldn’t be separated from the ball there either and then shot the ball from close range into the far corner for the deserved 1-1 equaliser.
