Sasha Djordjevic: ‘I want Chinese basketball to regain the enthusiasm of Yao Ming’s time’

In an interview with La Repubblica, Sasha Djordjevic spoke about his years spent in Milan, as a player (1992 to 1994 and 2005) and as a coach (2006-07), and also his ambitions now that he is at the head of the China national team.

“It’s an affection that I feel, it makes me proud and it makes me so happy because I chose with my family to become and be Milanese. When I won the European Cup in 1992, I had a lot of offers. I said to my agent: ‘Is there Milan too? If there is, let’s take this one, I don’t care about the rest. I grew up like that, admiring Dan Peterson’s Simac, JB Carroll, Dino (Meneghin), Mike (D’Antoni), Premier, the return with Aris. It is a deep bond that has developed over time. The Serb wants to be ambitious in his new mission in China:
