rhythmic activities for 7-15 year olds

The school holidays begin this Friday evening, February 10. To occupy the children for free, the City is once again setting up the system Sports vacances, aimed at 7-15 year olds. On the program: no less than five activities, with or without registration.

The Sports holidays system, organized by the City of Chaumont, is now becoming a habit which children, from 7 to 15 years old, can benefit from free of charge during the February or April school holidays. The next school holidays starting on Friday, February 10, new sports activities are offered.

As winter is not yet over, the City has moved the famous ice rink, present throughout December at Place des Halles, to the Gagarin gymnasium. The children can therefore go there every afternoon and have the choice between two sessions. Either a session supervised by the sports educators of the City. They take place from Monday, February 13 to Friday, February 17, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Either a so-called free session, on the same days but from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For the first type of session, pre-registration is strongly recommended, concerns children from 7 to 15 years old and is done with the Sports Department at 03.25.30.59.39. For other slots, no registration is necessary. Just go there when you want. There, children of all ages and adults are welcome, within the limit of 30 people at the same time. The little ones will then be placed under the responsibility of an adult. Please note that whatever time slot is chosen, children must wear gloves and a helmet. Only the helmet will be provided free of charge by the City.

Five days of archery for the holidays

However, the ice rink is not the only activity on offer, far from it. Those who wish can also register for a real archery course, over five days, from Monday 13 to Friday 17 February. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., children will be supervised and will learn all the secrets of archery. This activity is reserved for 9-13 year olds and is limited to 12 children. It is therefore strongly advised to register but only by being sure to participate in the five days.

Team sports will also play a big role during this week. Every day, children can try out another sport, always from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lemouton gymnasium. Monday, February 13, make way for the Handisport Olympics with awareness of wheelchair rugby and original games. On Tuesday February 14, participants will be able to think of themselves as future handball players, on Wednesday February 15, basketball players will play and on Thursday February 16, children will be able to play futsal. For these collective sports, registration will only be done on site. The facilitators will distribute the young people according to the number of participants.

On Thursday 16 and Friday 17 February, 7-15 year olds can also try out gymnastics. From 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., young people will be welcomed in the Gaston Mounier room. This activity, limited to 25 people, is only done on registration at 03.25.30.59.39. Finally, an introduction to horse riding, at the Cercle Hippique de Choignes, is the activity offered over the two weeks of vacation. On Tuesday February 14 and 21 and Thursday February 16 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., children aged 7 to 12 are invited to ride ponies and horses. Pre-registration is from Tuesday February 7 at 03.25.03.22.98.

These initiations and practices are there to allow the youngest to occupy themselves and let off steam during the school holidays. At the same time, it also allows children and teenagers to get a very precise idea of a sport they know little or not at all. This first glimpse, if it knows how to inspire them, can lead to enrollment in one of the Chaumont sports clubs.

Practical arrangements

Apart from the age conditions, there are no essential prerequisites to participate in the sports holidays scheme. The child must simply have the desire to have fun and discover new practices. All activities are free but most, except free ice rink slots and team sports, require compulsory pre-registration, due to the limited number of places.

To register your child for one or more activities, you must contact the Sports Department of the City of Chaumont directly, at C’Sam, on 03.25.30.59.39, except for introduction to horse riding. In the latter case, you must contact the Cercle Hippique de Choignes at 03.25.03.22.98
