The Gran Caracas 2023 Caribbean Series began this Thursday, February 2, with four matches that gave rise to a tournament that will not have days off and will determine the champion team of the area.
For the first time there will be eight teams competing, the champions of the partner countries of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation and some guests.
It will be played in a round-robin format and the four best clubs will advance to the semifinals. In semifinal A the second and third places will collide, while in A the teams 1 and 4 will seek the pass to the game for the title. Also for the first time there will be a game for third place.
The champions of the Dominican Republic (Tigres del Licey), Puerto Rico (Indios de Mayagüez), Panama (Federales de Chiriquí), Colombia (Vaqueros de Montería), Cuba (Agricultores de Granma and Las Tunas), Curaçao (Wildcats KJ74), Mexico (Cañeros de Los Mochis) and Venezuela (Leones del Caracas) will play the center of the Caribbean, whose last champion is the Caimanes de Barranquilla of Colombia.
