Queen stage and lead for Ruben Guerreiro (Movistar) on the Saudi Tour

BARCELONA, 2 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Portuguese cyclist Ruben Guerreiro (Movistar Team) won the fourth stage of the Saudi Tour this Thursday, played between Maraya and Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid over 163.4 kilometers, and in addition to achieving victory on the queen day, he becomes the leader of the general missing a single stage.

Guerreiro, in his first test with the Movistar Team after three seasons in EF Education First, soon debuted his record with the Spanish team thanks to a block job and an attack from the Portuguese to form the final team on the slopes of Harrat Uwayrid.

Only Davide Formolo (UAE Team Emirates) and Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain-Victorious), second and third, could keep up with Guerreiro, who won the final sprint. Austrian Felix Grosschartner (UAE Team Emirates) was fourth, 4 seconds behind.

Overall, with a fairly flat final stage to go, Guerreiro has an 8-second margin over Formolo and 9 over Buitrago, with the Austrian 18 seconds behind and Italian Jonathan Milan (Bahrain-Victorious) fifth, 24 seconds behind Guerreiro.

“It was a really tough day, like the climb itself. We knew it well, because the first training session here after arriving was on the climb. We also didn’t know how the legs would react after three basically flat days, and it was also a race of a lot of stress, so getting to this moment well was unknown”, Guerreiro assessed after the stage.
