The Polish Marcin Oleksy, who has amputated his left leg, is one of the three finalists for the 2022 Puskas Award, with which FIFA recognizes the best goal of the year, along with the Brazilian richarlison and the French Dmitri Payet.
Oleksy scored one of the goals of the year on November 6, finishing with a spectacular scissor strike in the Polish League of Amputees match between Warta Poznan, a team in which Oleksy plays, and the Steel Rzeszow.

“My partner Dawid-Novak- made the pass When I saw him approach the ball, I knew he was coming towards me. I connected very cleanly. It was pure. When I hit him, I followed the ball with my eyes and saw how it entered the top corner. I always wanted to score a nice goal. After the goal, I felt very proud. I stood up, puffed out my chest. I was so, so happy,” Oleksy said.
The Polish player will compete for the Puskas award with the Brazilian Richarlison, who is among the candidates thanks to the spectacular volley goal he signed against Serbia in the past Qatar World Cup and that already earned the Brazilian the award for the goal of the World Cup tournament in Qatar 2022.
The list of finalists is completed by the French player from Olympic Marseille Dimitri Payet, thanks to the sensational goal from outside the area that he achieved last April in the quarterfinal match of the Conference League between the French team and PAOK of Thessaloniki Greek.
The winner of the Puskas award will be announced during The Best gala to be held on February 27 at Paris.
