Picto quiz: will you be able to distinguish the new logos of the Olympic disciplines?

The Paris Olympic Games Organizing Committee (Cojo) published – on February 8 – all the pictograms intended to illustrate each sporting discipline. The “blazons” are 62 in number: 47 for the classical disciplines and 23 for the Paralympic disciplines (some are common).

And the word “coat of arms” is not insignificant. It marks a desire to “revolutionize the forms “, even if it means deviating from a practice that has been established since the Tokyo Olympics in 1964: designing simple logos, readable by everyone and everywhere. Determined to stand out, the Paris 2024 brand claims to want to create a “break”, even if it means destabilizing many Internet users.

A questionnaire to differentiate the pictograms of the disciplines

Like the visual of the new mascot, the “Phryges”, these brand new pictograms, were quick to make people react. “Illegible”, “pretentious” for some, “modern”, “cannons” for others, the whole is available for consultation on the official website Paris Games.

But before digging into them all, we offer you a game to distinguish and differentiate them. Choose the image that corresponds to each sport mentioned. Hockey stick or golf club? Boat or ovalie? Hand ball or water polo ball? Up to you !

In addition to these pictograms, the “Cojo” also unveiled the colors that will adorn the stations, airports and other key places in the Olympic cities. On the menu of red, blue, green and above all purple, all in an “art deco” spirit to dialogue with the pictograms.
