PGA: Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin comers at the Omnium Waste Management

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Canadians Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin shot 66 (under five) on Thursday to take a lead at the Phoenix Open on Thursday.

Taylor was brilliant on the back nine, birding four in a row and six overall. The British Columbian also earned an eagle on the third hole.

The morning frost turned into gusty winds, leading to difficult conditions at TPC Scottsdale.

The frost delayed the start of the competition by almost two hours; the wind blew from the northeast at 40 km/h then, finally, the game was stopped due to darkness.

Players who had an afternoon start could not complete their round.

Taylor lives in the area and often trains at TPC Scottsdale.

“I don’t see a lot of northeast wind here,” said Taylor, who has two PGA wins. It is certainly the most difficult wind to negotiate, especially when descending the green.

“I saw a lot of windy conditions, but those were some of the worst I’ve encountered. »

Xander Schauffele shot 67, one shot better than Charley Hoffman.

The highest ranked player in the world, Rory McIlroy brought home a card of 73, plus two. He committed two bogeys on each half of the course.

Corey Conners (70), Taylor Pendrith (73), Mackenzie Hughes (74) and Adam Svensson also represent Canada.

Svensson had plus three after 11 holes.
