Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be played across six windows over 15 months in four regions: Africa, the Americas, Asia (including Oceania), and Europe.
In the European regional qualifiers, 30 teams are divided into “Groups A to H” and compete in the 1st round (Window 1 to 3), with the top 3 teams in each group advancing to the 2nd round (Window 1 to 3). In the 2nd round, the 24 teams that won the 1st round will be divided into “Groups I to L” of 6 teams each. The Czech national team to which Auda belongs is “Group K”, and is in the same group as the French national team, ranked 5th in the world, and the Lithuania national team, ranked 8th in the world.
There are 12 teams in the European World Cup finals. Six teams have already qualified for the main draw: France, Greece, Lithuania, Slovenia, Spain and Italy.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be held from August 25 to September 10, 2023, co-hosted by Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia for the first time ever. The venue in Japan is Okinawa. It will be Japan’s second time to host the World Cup after 17 years since 2006, and Okinawa’s first time hosting the World Cup.
