Paris 2024 will dye the athletics track purple

Paris, 8 Feb. The athletics track of the Stade de France during the Olympic Games in Paris next year will be purple, as part of a new set of “more festive” colors with which the organizers want to dress the event, which this Wednesday also presented the pictograms to represent each sport.

The president of the Organizing Committee, Tony Estanguet, revealed this Wednesday the colors that the different Olympic venues will wear, seeking “a cheerful, festive tone” and in which pink, blue and violet will be dominant.

Specifically, the track on which the athletes will compete at the Stade de France will be dyed purple, as opposed to the classic red ocher color, a decision taken by the organizers in agreement with the international athletics federation, World Athletics, and the televisions. .

In parallel, Paris 2024 also unveiled the pictograms of the Games, a tradition since Tokyo’64 that allows each sport to be identified with an image. Contrary to what has been the case over the years, these pictograms will not use a human image and will be “blazons” inspired by the instruments of each discipline.

The basketball, the badminton shuttlecock, the equestrian horses, the judo kimonos, the athletic shoes, the surfboards or the cap and swimming goggles are some of the 62 elements that allude to the different sports.

In eight of the disciplines, the pictogram will be common for Olympic and Paralympic sport.
