Orlando pushes Charlotte deeper

NBA – At home, the Magic ensured (119-113) against the Hornets who can’t do it. And continue to dive in the Western Conference standings.

In this duel of bottom teams in the East, it was ultimately the Magic, despite their suspensions (Mo Bamba and Jalen Suggs) who managed the match better to win (119-113) without shaking too much on the end.

With two 3-pointers in quick succession, LaMelo Ball had yet put his team back in the lead at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Hornets failed to capitalize afterwards, despite Orlando’s errors.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– A few more offensive options for Orlando. We’re not going to lie, it wasn’t flamboyant on either side, but Magic still had more weapons, and especially offensive variety. One of the elements that made the difference, while the Hornets only seem to exist on fast play.

– The Magic’s offensive rebounds. Jamahl Mosley’s players were less skilful than their opponents (46% against 54%) but they compensated by going more on the free throw line (30 against 23) and especially by recovering a ton of offensive rebounds (18 against 8).

TOPS/FLOPS

✅⛔ Paolo Banchero. His ability to cause fouls does a lot of good for this Orlando team. And it weighs on the defenses. Even if tonight he also shot a lot in the void (22 points at 6/20).

✅⛔ LaMelo Ball.

Statistically, it’s a very good game for the leader (33 points at 13/24, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals). Visually, it’s more nuanced because if he is able to chain 3-pointers and swaying penetrations to torpedo opposing defenses, he seems totally disinterested in a few areas of play.

⛔ Gordon Hayward. It’s almost painful to see him at this level. While Charlotte would need a player capable of putting things in place (Mason Plumlee, the main point of fixation on the game placed at the end of the match…), the former Utah and Boston player is hiding. And when he has the ball, he misses. His awful missed layup, punished by a 3-pointer from Caleb Houstan in stride, is perhaps the turning point of the match.
