OM-PSG (0-3): “I have always had confidence in my players and my coach”, says Nasser Al-Khelaïfi

His word has been rather rare since the start of the season. But after PSG’s resounding victory over Olympique de Marseille (0-3) on Sunday evening, President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi appeared in front of the media to express his joy at seeing his club win at the Vélodrome. The boss of the Parisian club also took the opportunity to reaffirm his confidence in his coach Christophe Galtier, weakened by a series of three losses in a row in February, and his team for the knockout round of the Champions League against Bayern. Munich (March 8).

How do you view this evening?

It was a great game. Tonight we saw a great PSG, I always had confidence in my players and my coach. We really had a great match at PSG level. It was special, we won with style. We played against a great Olympique de Marseille. But what should be remembered is that we saw the true face of PSG. Tonight there are positive things: we won against OM, we are eight points ahead in the standings. It was very important to win. The players were very aggressive. It’s good preparation for the next match against Nantes (Saturday March 4) and in view of the Champions League.

You were carried by a very good Kylian Mbappé…

Kylian had a great game. He equaled Edinson Cavani’s record, but the team really did something positive today. We are a little sad for our defender Presnel Kimpembe. I think he is suffering from a ruptured tendon. We have a thought for him and this match is also for him.

The club has been going through a complicated patch since the start of the year. Is the future of Christophe Galtier conditioned on the course of PSG in the Champions League?

No. Like I said, I always trust my coach because I know what he can give. It was complicated after the World Cup for everyone. And especially for us because we had a lot of players involved in this competition. But that’s no excuse. Now we have found our position.

Are you confident for the game against Bayern Munich?

I still have confidence, especially for this game. I want to give a lot of confidence to the players too, for everyone, and you too the media. That way you speak a little more positively about us.

Is it a pride to see Kylian Mbappé equal Edinson Cavani’s goal record?

Yes of course. He was very close to breaking the record but I’m sure next game he will beat it. He’s a great great player. I am very proud of him and proud that he is at PSG.
