Although he was able to sign before most NFL free agents this year, Derek Carr’s free agency is moving slowly. These entrants would shake things up dramatically.
Derek Carr may well be a hot commodity this season, but so far he’s not moving like one. NFL rumors were slow to circulate about his release, and the teams he met or spoke with remained somewhat anonymous.
Some of this seems to be on purpose. Early reports indicated that Carr had no plans to speed up the process, despite being the only NFL player with a contract. In fact There is no veteran quarterback available in the NFL worth pursuing with any aggressiveness until free agency opens (or until either parts of the Aaron Rodgers-Packers relationship decides to end things). Carr can sign today if he can reach an agreement with a team.
So far we know the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets have met Carr. We also know his price, which while it may seem high, is actually what the market suggests he’s worth in today’s NFL.
Finally, we know that three anonymous teams are interested in Carr.
Until we know more details about these three teams, it is good to make some speculations. We don’t have an NFL game for a while, so might as well be imaginative, right?
Here are the teams that would mix things up and create some chaos if they were to go after Carr, starting with a direct rival to the Saints in the NFC South.
