The 37-year-old made the announcement on his social media on Tuesday. It was the first time he had spoken about his situation publicly.

“I just want to thank everyone for their prayers and the love I have received,” Hillis wrote. It made all the difference. I also want to thank my brave sister, my mother, my sister-in-law, my children and my lover, who saved my life in many ways.

“I did not accept any interviews on this subject, because I did not want my family to be exposed after going through this very traumatic experience. However, I wanted to express my gratitude to those who saved my life. I left the hospital with the certainty that I will recover 100%. I am a very lucky man.”

Hillis had been rushed by plane to a hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He then spent a long time in intensive care due to lung and kidney problems.

The one who was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2008 auction has played seven seasons in the NFL. Hillis particularly stood out with the Cleveland Browns in 2010, when he had 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns on 270 carries. Video game fans have also seen it on the cover of “Madden NFL 12”.
