NBA: Daniel Theis loses on debut – LeBron James ahead of record

Basketball pro Daniel Theis (30) made his debut for the Indiana Pacers after recovering from a knee injury. The international played around seven minutes in the narrow 111:112 defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers with Dennis Schröder (29) in the North American professional league NBA.

Theis, who had to have an operation on his knee after the European Championship last year, did not get any points. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Pacers.

LeBron James is chasing the all-time record

Schröder contributed twelve points and six rebounds in a row in the second Lakers win.

Meanwhile, superstar LeBron James (38) is still chasing records. The 38-year-old scored 26 points, just 63 points behind the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (75), who leads the all-time points list with 38,387 points.

“I think it’s one of the greatest records in the sport,” James said, comparing it to baseball’s all-time home run record: “It’s one of those records that you don’t think will ever be broken .” The Lakers improved to twelfth place in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Hartenstein (24) was able to enjoy a sense of achievement with the New York Knicks. After the last two defeats, the team of the German national player prevailed against the Miami Heat with 106:104. After their 28th win of the season, the Knicks are still in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and still have a good chance of going straight to the playoffs.

The Dallas Mavericks around star player Luka Doncic (23) beat the New Orleans Pelicans 111:106 and celebrated their second win in a row. Doncic (31 points) had to be substituted in the third quarter through injury after landing unluckily on the heel of a dunk attempt. (sid)
