Motocross: scandal at the Enduropale, a pilot rolls over a competitor caught in a fall

The scene caused a stir among the spectators. So imagine the surge once the video of the incident has been published on social networks… This Saturday, in Le Touquet (Pas-de-Calais), a biker participating in the famous Enduropale meeting ran over another competitor.

This incident occurred during the warm-up laps of the competition. While pilot number 321 had just fallen in the middle of the convoy, several pursuers managed to avoid him but another, although stopped, chose to mount his wheels on the man on the ground and restart. Via a press release, the organization of the race declared that it had seized the French Motorcycling Federation “to summon driver No. 322”. “This type of behavior appears for the organization, morally, sportingly and ethically, inadmissible and contrary to the values that we defend. In this regard, we ask that an exemplary sanction be pronounced. »

The offending athlete, Tom Maurizi (22) apologized on Sunday. Questioned by our colleagues from The voice of the North, he admits to having “totally panicked. I’m not okay with that, it wasn’t my goal to run over him. Afterwards, I only thought about that during the race”.

The licensee of the Moto club du littoral based in Loon-Plage continues: “Someone fell in front of me, I did not know what to do. I couldn’t shift left or right because I didn’t know what was happening. I preferred to accelerate by lifting the front of the bike so as not to hurt it. »

Both men were able to start. Tom Maurizi finished 251st. His “victim” took 176th place.
