Mignolet praises teammate: “Big kudos to him”

Club Brugge and Union SG held a 1-1 draw in Jan Breydel on Friday evening. Both teams had chances to score more goals, but failed to do so. With the home team, Simon Mignolet was able to live with the result afterwards. At the same time, the goalkeeper praised a teammate.

“You have to finish the moments you get. That is also the case in our own box. The 1-1 is the right result. We played a good game, balanced, but with the chances we had, we could certainly take the three take points,” Mignolet told the club’s website. “We earned more against Antwerp and that has been more in recent weeks. If we had won a number of all those draws, it would have been a completely different situation. You have to accept that, but we are stable.”

Noa Lang was dangerous, but couldn’t score. Mignolet thinks the Dutchman has been playing excellently lately. “Noa Lang has been doing very well in recent weeks, not just on the pitch. He shows a great mentality and he pulls guys along. That’s a big compliment to him.” Roman Yaremchuk also did his job, although he again failed to score. “Yaremchuk also fulfilled his duties in the first half. But the attackers live on goals. If the team is not running well and the balls are not going in, it is difficult to get into that flow,” added the Red Devil please.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

On to the Champions League now for Club Brugge. Blauw-Zwart will host Portuguese Benfica in the eighth finals of the Champions League next Wednesday. “We have everything to win there instead of losing in the competition. We can live here with a positive feeling and enthusiasm. With the audience behind it in a full house, let’s hope with all of Club Brugge that we can have a beautiful and historic evening”, Mignolet is already looking ahead.
