Ander Herrera is no longer a PSG player. While the midfielder was only on loan from the capital club to Athletic Bilbao this season, he was definitely “bought” by the Basque club on Tuesday evening, in the very last hours of the winter transfer market. The transfer fee has not been leaked but the 33-year-old now belongs to Athletic until June 2024.
An important last minute maneuver for PSG for another transaction, that of Keylor Navas to Nottingham Forest. With eight player loans in progress since the start of the season, Paris had, in fact, reached the quota authorized by FIFA for each club. To be able to lend again, he therefore had to repatriate a player or remove him permanently from his workforce.
As explained by L’Équipe, PSG considered both solutions in the case of Ander Herrera. The second was ultimately accepted. Arrived in the summer of 2019 in France, the Spaniard will have played 95 games with Paris, including a Champions League final in 2020.
