There was no confirmation from the club on Sunday evening. The 49-year-old Breitenreiter and Hoffenheim, where ÖFB legionnaire Christoph Baumgartner is also under contract, had not won any of the last ten competitive games and are deep in the relegation battle.

According to reports, Hoffenheim drew the consequences of the crisis. There had previously been a meeting with the management. Breitenreiter came from FC Zurich last summer as the successor to Sebastian Hoeneß, whom he had led to the championship title in Switzerland.
