“Matthai” becomes Werder’s new main and shirt sponsor

After the withdrawal of the PHW Group, Werder Bremen quickly presented a new main and shirt sponsor. He was already active in the club.

“We are very optimistic that we will be able to announce a deal shortly,” said Managing Director Klaus Filbry on Thursday when Werder Bremen announced the end of the collaboration with the long-standing main and shirt sponsor, the PHW Group. It didn’t even take 24 hours.

Werder announced on Friday morning that the construction service provider “Matthäi” will decorate the jerseys from the 2023/24 season. The company, which is headquartered in Verden (Aller), initially committed itself to the club for two years, in which it has played a role since 2019. “Matthäi” has been one of SVW’s top partners since the current season. Bremen did not provide any information about the financial volume.

“We are very pleased that with ‘Matthäi’ we have again been able to win a main sponsor from the region and that we will work even more intensively with our long-standing partner in the future,” Filbry is quoted as saying in the club announcement. “‘Matthäi’ stands for values ​​such as sustainability, regional ties, dealing responsibly with your employees and many more that match the values ​​of SV Werder.”

According to the Bremen company, the ‘Matthäi’ group is one of the largest construction companies in northern Germany with over 3,000 employees at more than 70 locations. At Werder, she succeeds the PHW group, which will disappear from the Bremen jersey breast at the end of the season after eleven years. There she was represented with the brands “Wiesenhof” and the offshoot “Green Legend”. Especially at the beginning, the partnership was met with criticism in the fan scene.

“We are very much looking forward to further deepening the successful partnership of the past few years and to giving our support for Werder as the main sponsor even greater importance in the coming years,” says the management of the “Matthai” group. The now even more extensive partnership was mediated by Werder’s marketing partner “Infront”.
