Matthew Terry Clark (born the in West Covina, California, USA) is a first baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball.

He also played for the Chunichi Dragons in Japan and with the United States national team.

Career

Matt Clark was first drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 28e selection round in 2007[1]but chose to leave high school for the Louisiana State University Tigers rather than join the major league franchise[2]. The following year, 2008, Clark joined the San Diego Padres[3]who claim it at 12e amateur player draft round[2]. He played 5 years in the minor leagues, from 2008 to 2012, with clubs affiliated with the Padres[4]. His 45 circuits in total in 2011 and 2012[4] represent the record in the brief history of the Tucson Padres, for a time club-school Triple-A of the San Diego franchise in the Pacific Coast League[5].

In 2011, he won with the United States team a silver medal in baseball at the 2011 Pan American Games[5].

In 2013, Clark played in Japan where he hit 25 homers and had 70 RBIs for the Central League Chunichi Dragons.[6].

He started 2014 in the minor leagues with a New York Mets farm club and, after being released from his contract, joined the Milwaukee Brewers in July. It was with the latter club that Clark made his major league debut on . The next, he scored the first hit of his career, against St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Seth Maness[7].

Personal life

Matt Clark is the son of Terry Clark[3]a pitcher who played 6 seasons in the Major Leagues between 1988 and 1997[8].
