Miyano had his first major anime assignment at the age of 19, with Wolf’s Rain. During production he solidified friendship with Kazuhiro Wakabayashithe sound director of the anime who took the young man under his wing.
Now, years later, Miyano is famous for playing Light Yagami in Death NoteSetsuna F. Seiei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 e Rintaro Okabe in Steins; Gate. She rarely doesn’t play roles for an entire season.
All this success, however, does not mean that he can play whoever he wants, on the contrary… “I often don’t get the roles I audition for.” he declares Miyano, “There are many times I don’t get them, even for series or films in which Wakabayashi works. Luck has a lot to do with it because there are so many factors at stake. Even now they don’t give me the role to give it to voice actors with less I feel like the role has been taken out of my hands, “he took that…”
But Miyano does everything to turn these feelings into something positive: “I have time to think about why I’m frustrated and what there was to fix in my performance. And that’s something I love about my job.”
Miyano he also told a bit of his story and how work nowadays influences his state of mind, both as a voice actor and in his daily life: “I have an inferiority complex because I didn’t do well as a kid… I feel unwanted. And I try to make people smile because of it, I don’t just want to entertain them, I also want to assert myself.“
Surely Miyano tries to overcome insecurities and recognize his talent: “As a voice actor I can confidently say that I’m very good at what I do. I have years of experience, and I can confirm this also with my latest work for television series, theater and variety shows.”
