On Saturday, “Jēkabpils lūši” played the second game of the quarter-finals of the Baltic Volleyball League against “RTU/Robežsardzi/Jūrmala” in Jūrmala. In the first match at home, the Jäkabpilians lost with 0:3. The winner of the series is determined by the sum of two games.

There were no changes in the composition of “Lūšu” compared to the first match. The injured Zigurdas Adamovičas was still not in the lineup, Armands Āboliņš has not fully recovered from his injury, and Kristers Landzāns is only gradually getting in shape. Expectations of victory in the second leg were low. Miracles did not happen, and the people of Jäkabpils lost again with 0:3. At the beginning of the first set, the “lynxes” were in the lead with 6:1, but already in the middle of the set, the seafarers took the initiative and won with 25:20. In the next two sets, the hosts were even more convincing and won with 25:15 and 25:16, celebrating the success with 3:0 throughout the match, thus winning the quarter-final series and entering the “Final 4”, which will take place in Tartu at the weekend.

In the Jēkabpils team, Kristers Landzāns was the top scorer with 11 points, and Andrijas Chmirova with 7 points.

Another ticket to Tartu was earned by “Ezerzeme/DU”, which also defeated “Barrus Voru VK” in the second match of the series, and “Parnu VK”, which unexpectedly dealt with the second place winner of the regular tournament, “Selver/TalTech”. As the winner of the regular tournament, «Final 4» automatically entered «Bigbank Tartu».

“Jēkabpils lūšiem” Baltic volleyball season has ended and now we have to prepare for the play off matches of the Latvian championship.
